At the heart of Bruns Bakery is a true family affair. Kurt and Mel, along with their two young children Tiger and Indy, have had the bakery a part of their lives for many decades. Kurt, a true Brunswick Heads local, began his apprenticeship at the same location in the year 2000, leaving school early to immerse himself in the trade. Many decades later during the 2016 renovations of the shop when their kids were only babies to now when you’ll find both girls eagerly helping behind the scenes during school holidays, the bakery has always been a family journey. Over the years, Kurt has played a key role in shaping Bruns Bakery into the community hub it is today. Together with Mel’s creative flair, the couple makes an unstoppable team. Mel brings fresh ideas, organizing community events and staying ahead of trends to keep the bakery vibrant and connected with customers through social media. Kurt and Mel are proud to contribute to their local community and are excited to continue serving it for many years to come.

When they aren’t buzzing around in the bakery you’ll find them spending family time fishing in the local river, going for bike rides or off in their vintage caravan taking in all the sights and scenes that this beautiful country has to offer!
